BattleGroundSanDiego selects the Mission Valley Resort in San Diego to host its inaugural event.

Circuit Commissioner for BattleGroundSanDiego, Victor Cantu, announced the date and location for their inaugural event today.

“We are thrilled to announce that the first event in the BattleGroundSanDiego Tournament Circuit will be held at the Mission Valley Resort in San Diego on Sunday, May 24 th 2009. After visiting several locations, we are very excited about the location that we have chosen. The size of the room is ideal for a field around 64 players, and with its central to San Diego location and immediate access to three major Southern California freeways, the Mission Valley Resort makes the most sense. With our goal of pulling in a player base from Orange County and Riverside County, and to some degree portions of Los Angeles County, we needed a location that was easily accessible and easy to find. The Mission Valley Resort is a 202 room property located in the Mission Valley area of San Diego. The resort maintains 7,000 square feet of meeting room space. Parking is complimentary.”

“We are truly very excited about where this first event will take us”, states Victor Cantu. “With the growing player base in Southern California of this great game, we expect a very good showing. Having both formats represented in one event allow the players from both sides of the argument to enjoy the Stomping Ground.”

This event is also the kick off for the Tournament Circuit itself as noted by Victor, “This is just the first of many events over the tournament season. In each event, every player registering and competing in our events earns points toward the BattleGroundSanDiego Cup in the format they choose to compete in. I want to make it perfectly clear that this is not a one off event. This circuit will continue month in and month out and I look forward to handing the trophies to the champions.”

“Over the next few weeks, we will begin issuing releases on the prize packages available for our first event, as well as registration numbers for the Stomping Ground as the tournament participants begin to commit. I can tell you that we will award prizes to the top 8 in each format. Again, our goal is two 32 player fields, one for each format. The Constructed Deck and Sealed Deck formats will occur simultaneously and during the final cut to eight players for each, we will be having Draft format events for every 8 players that wish to continue their day and get some additional cards for their collections. Our goal is a serious day of Trading Card Game play. An event that is so focused and of such quality and enjoyment it can only be called a BattleGroundSanDiego event.”

“Registration can be made via our website at www.BattleGroundSanDiego.com and when you register in a group of four or larger and then attend, each member of that group will receive a booster pack as a thank you.”
